FITC 2016 Intros
Video
I chose a design festival to do a small rebranding of, which ending up being for FITC (Future. Innovation. Technology. Creativity). I redesigned the logo and based if off of the chemical compound Fluorescein isothiocyanate (or, FITC). From my understanding of the complex usage of this compound, it's essentially a type of dye put in certain chemicals to trace their location during experimentation. So I made intros for each of the three days the festival ran using in-camera dye techniques to represent the processes the chemical compound is used in.
For sound design, I decided to go with a cold and wet feeling as a basis, then bring in a unique element for each of the videos that represented their given topics. For "Future", I chose bells to represent the "ringing in" of a new era. For "innovation", I chose a noisy, distorted radio jammer-like sound to represent how innovating isn't always a very clear and concise path to be easily understood. Then finally, for "Technology", I decided to use a sample of some older jazz music. This was because a lot of the time, solutions for problems we have today can be found looking back on older, but successful solutions to other similar problems.
